Enterprise Server Configuration On-Premise

Supported Operating Systems

DeskGate Enterprise Server supports Windows 7 SP2, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2012 series. The operating system choice depends on your internal infrastructure and long-term support strategy.

Server Capacity Planning

Server resources are determined by the number of connected client computers and whether screen recording is enabled. For environments without video recording, a server supporting up to 500 users typically requires 4 GB RAM, a 4-core CPU, and a standard 250 GB or 500 GB hard disk.

Activity logs and retrospective reports generally consume less than 4 GB per user over a one-year period.

Video Recording Storage

When video recording is enabled during standard working hours, average screen activity generates approximately 160 MB per user for an 8-hour workday.

Storage retention policies are fully configurable, allowing you to balance compliance requirements and disk usage.

On-Premise Architecture Benefits

All DeskGate Enterprise data is stored entirely on your own servers. This eliminates external dependencies and ensures that sensitive information remains under your direct control.

Operating within your internal network also provides higher performance and reduced latency compared to cloud-based solutions.

Home User Setup Overview

Download the DeskGate installer and start the installation by double-clicking the setup file. After installation, launch DeskGate from the desktop shortcut.

The system automatically generates a connection ID and password. Sharing these credentials with an authorized person enables remote access.

DeskGate automatically checks for updates and installs new versions when available.

Remote Desktop Connectivity

DeskGate allows fast and secure connections to computers on the same network or across the internet, provided required permissions and network settings are in place.

IIS Setup – PageHandlerFactory Error

During IIS installation, the following error may appear: HTTP Error 500.21 – Handler "PageHandlerFactory-Integrated" has a bad module "ManagedPipelineHandler".

Run Command Prompt as administrator and execute the appropriate command based on your installed .NET Framework version:

%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

IIS 7.0 – 503 Application Pool Error

If a 503 error occurs, the IIS Application Pool may be stopping. Open Application Pool advanced settings, select NetworkService instead of ApplicationPoolIdentity, and restart IIS.

Dashboard and PC List Usage

The DeskGate dashboard provides license information, total user count, and administrator statistics. The PC List displays all installed agents and allows administrators to move computers between groups, rename devices, and view IP, MAC address, and remote ID details.

Preparing Client Setup

Access the Payment and Setup page to generate client installation packages. Enter the server’s internal IP address and specify the external IP address if remote access is required.

Select the desired version and create setup files for deployment on client computers.
