Application Usage Intelligence

Application Chart

Application Chart Overview

The Application Chart module in DeskGate is designed to deliver a precise and measurable view of how software applications are used across the organization. It visualizes actively used programs in a structured graph table, allowing administrators to move beyond assumptions and rely on real usage data. This feature enables teams to understand which applications are central to daily operations, which tools are used intermittently, and how software usage evolves over time.

By focusing on actual activity rather than installed software lists, DeskGate ensures that decision makers gain visibility into real user behavior. This approach supports accurate license planning, productivity analysis, and application lifecycle management without relying on estimates or manual reporting.

Active Program Usage Analysis

DeskGate continuously collects and processes application activity data to determine which programs users actively engage with during their working sessions. The Application Chart transforms this data into a clear graphical structure, making it easy to identify usage frequency, dominance, and relevance of each program within the workflow.

This analysis allows IT and operations teams to distinguish between mission-critical applications and low-impact tools. Frequently used programs can be prioritized for performance optimization, training, or support, while rarely used applications can be reviewed for cost reduction, decommissioning, or replacement.

Top 10 and Extended Ranking Views

The Application Chart includes Top 10 and extended ranking options that highlight the most actively used programs within the selected period. These ranked views provide immediate insight into software concentration and dependency patterns, helping organizations understand which applications drive daily productivity.

By extending beyond the Top 10 when needed, DeskGate ensures that long-tail application usage is not overlooked. This comprehensive visibility supports more informed decisions regarding software investments, license allocation, and standardization strategies across teams and departments.

Date Range Filtering and Trend Evaluation

Administrators can apply flexible date range filters to analyze application usage for specific periods such as daily activity, weekly trends, monthly summaries, or fully customized time frames. This capability allows organizations to compare usage before and after policy changes, software updates, or organizational shifts.

By evaluating application trends over time, DeskGate helps teams identify growth, decline, or stability in software usage. These insights support long-term planning, change impact assessment, and continuous optimization of the digital working environment.

Graph Shape Customization

The Application Chart supports multiple graph visualization types, allowing administrators to change the graph shape based on analysis needs. Different visual formats can emphasize comparisons, distributions, or usage dominance, making complex data easier to interpret.

This flexibility ensures that both high-level summaries and detailed analytical views can be generated from the same dataset, supporting diverse reporting and presentation requirements within the organization.

Excel Export for Reporting and Audit

All application usage data displayed in the Application Chart can be downloaded as an Export Excel file. This enables offline analysis, structured reporting, and long-term archiving of application usage metrics.

Excel export ensures compatibility with existing reporting workflows, audit processes, and management reviews. By combining visual insights with exportable data, DeskGate provides a complete and enterprise-ready solution for application usage monitoring and analysis.
