Using the Management Summary Report

Compare weekly periods with consistent scope and inspect the evidence behind summary metrics.

Start with a comparison question

Management Summary brings work patterns, usage trends and security events into one view. Decide what changed and which group should be compared before opening a result. Summary figures help prioritize a review; they are not a substitute for the underlying records.

Read the screenshot in three steps

The numbered notes below explain the screen areas in reading order. The original screenshot is unchanged; example values are demonstration data.

1

Top: match two periods

Select Week A, Week B, Group and Users. Verify comparable week coverage and the same population before interpreting a change.

2

Summary: separate observation from cause

A change in active interaction or recorded events is an observation. Check classification and collection coverage before proposing an explanation.

3

Comparison rows: inspect the baseline

Follow the user-level comparison. An empty previous period is an unavailable baseline, not proof of an improvement.

  1. Open Management Summary.
  2. Choose Week A and Week B.
  3. Select the intended group and any available user scope.
  4. Run the report and verify the displayed week caption.
  5. Read the period comparison alongside user-level results.

Interpret changes carefully

Review the visible measures, including active work, private use and USB/file events where present. Check collection coverage and classification before interpreting a change. A different number of reporting devices, leave days or an incomplete week can explain a difference.

Use the manager assessment as an entry point for investigation. For a usage change, inspect Work Analysis. For an event increase, inspect the relevant event records. Keep the same scope when moving between reports so the detailed view can explain the summary.

Share a traceable result

Record both periods, group, selected filters, the observation and the follow-up owner. Where the installed version provides PDF export, verify the same scope in the document before distribution. Distinguish a recorded fact from a proposed explanation.

When a comparison has no previous-period data, say so explicitly. Do not present an empty baseline as a measured improvement. The demonstration screenshot is not a customer outcome or benchmark.

When totals do not align

Confirm week boundaries, groups, included users and classification settings in both views. Check whether one report shows a page or detail limit. Escalate a reproducible example with the two sets of filters if a discrepancy remains.
