DeskGate troubleshooting and administration

Activity Report Is Empty

Separate scope, date, access and collection issues before changing the installation.

  1. 1. Choose the scope

Match the group and user to the expected device.

  2. 2. Check the period

Select dates that contain collected records.

  3. 3. Verify one event

Compare a recent known activity and its collection settings.

Confirm which report you need

Activities reports active/passive time; Work Analysis shows application and website usage. USB and file events belong to their own report. Seeing no application names in Activities does not establish that collection failed.

Apply a clean set of filters

  1. Confirm the organization and choose the group containing the expected user. Default is a separate group, not a synonym for all groups.
  2. Select the intended user and review Active users or other status filters.
  3. Set From and To to include the known event. Do not reuse the demonstration dates from a screenshot.
  4. Apply or run the report and inspect pagination and the displayed scope.
  5. Compare another permitted report only with matching user and date filters.

Check collection and permissions

Confirm that the station is connected and that the relevant collection capability is enabled in its assigned group rule. Review working schedules or collection periods with the authorized administrator. Allow the configured collection interval before deciding a recent test is missing.

Report-page access, group coverage and collection policy are separate checks. An administrator able to open a report may still be reviewing a limited scope. Do not enable unrelated collection features simply to populate a page.

Verify with a known event

Choose one pilot device and an agreed short activity, record the time, then review the appropriate report after collection. In Activities, remember that the full-day analysis is not a PC power-on/off log. A quiet interval by itself does not prove that the user was not working.

If the on-screen report has data but the PDF is empty, compare the export’s user/date scope and limits. If both are empty, continue with connection, collection and processing checks.

Escalate a reproducible example

Provide the report name, selected filters, event time, relevant device connection state and sanitized error. Use From Your First Device to Your First Report to repeat the full verification path.
