DeskGate troubleshooting and administrationAdministrator Permissions and Group RulesSeparate administrator page access, group coverage and endpoint collection rules.Maintained by DeskGate · Updated October 6, 20261. Who can review?Assign the administrator’s permitted pages and coverage.2. Which devices?Confirm users and stations belong to the intended group.3. What is enabled?Review the rule assigned to that group and verify a pilot.Three controls with different purposesAdministrator permissions decide what a reviewer can access. Group membership organizes the users and computers being managed. Group rules control assigned capabilities. Changing one does not automatically establish that the other two are correct.Begin with a named task, such as reviewing one team’s activity report. Assign the access needed for that task and verify it with the intended administrator account.1. Review the administrator and page accessActual application interface with demonstration data; labels can vary by release. Open the image for its original size.Open Admin and select the intended administrator, or use Add new admin when an account is needed.Review the account’s authority, group access and support coverage through the available controls.Open Permission, find and select the correct administrator.Review the accessible-page checkboxes and save only the pages that role requires. Select all is not the default way to resolve a missing page.Verify the result in a separate session signed in as that administrator. Confirm both the intended access and the restrictions.2. Confirm group membership and assigned ruleActual application interface with demonstration data; labels can vary by release. Open the image for its original size.Use Station to find the intended computer and review its group before a bulk change. In Groups, confirm the assigned access rule and group status. Review the rule under Group Rule and enable only the approved activity or protection capabilities. Check any working schedule that governs collection.A group name alone does not describe the rule’s effective settings. If multiple groups share a rule, review the scope before editing it: a shared change can affect more devices than the one being investigated.3. Test the intended outcomeUse one pilot station and one authorized reviewer. Confirm the reviewer can open the required report, sees the intended group, and can find a recent approved test record after collection. Also confirm that unrelated groups or pages remain outside that role’s access.Record the administrator, group, rule, purpose and validation outcome. If access remains wrong, compare the exact page permission and group coverage rather than giving unrestricted authority. For missing records, use Activity Report Is Empty. For the wider security context behind reviewer access and data protection, read the DeskGate Security and Data Protection Guide.
